In a historic display of national unity, Ghana’s dancehall icons Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have stepped forward with massive financial pledges to support the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The two music giants made their announcements during a high-profile fundraising dinner held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on Friday night. The event, launched by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to raise $30 million to facilitate the national team’s preparations and ensure a strong Ghanaian fan presence in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Shatta Wale, leader of the Shatta Movement, energized the room by pledging $100,000 to the Black Stars Fund. Speaking at the event, the “On God” hitmaker emphasized the importance of corporate and individual support to ensure the team has everything they need to succeed on the global stage.

“With companies and everybody supporting, including the man of the land, His Excellency [John Mahama], I just want to say from my team to the Black Stars and the whole organization, we are donating $100,000,” Shatta Wale declared.

Not to be outdone in his patriotism, Bhim Nation President Stonebwoy committed a total of $101,000 toward the cause. His contribution is uniquely structured to provide both liquid capital and creative inspiration for the team.

Stonebwoy pledged $81,000 in direct cash to the World Cup Fund. Additionally, he revealed that he has already invested $20,000 into the production of a special motivational song and professional music services specifically designed for the Black Stars to use throughout the tournament.

The event was marked by a rare and heartwarming moment as the two long-time rivals shared a hug on stage, a gesture requested by President Mahama to symbolize the unity needed for the national task ahead.

The musicians’ contributions join a growing list of heavy hitters, including:

  • Engineers & Planners (Ibrahim Mahama): $5 million (Headline Sponsor)
  • Gold Fields Ghana: $2 million (with an additional $1 million for 2027)

The funds raised are earmarked for logistics, player welfare, and—crucially—transporting Ghanaian supporters to the tournament venues to ensure the Black Stars have a “home away from home” atmosphere.

Ghana is drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, 2026, in Toronto. With the nation’s biggest stars rallying behind them, the energy heading into the summer is at an all-time high.
